Cinematic FPV

There’s a new style of filming with drones…

We are one of the first UK commercial operators with permission for FPV. FPV stands for First Person View meaning the operator flies the drone wearing goggles watching what the drone “sees”. This allows the operator to fly the drone like a pilot in a virtual aircraft allowing closer more dynamic shots.

We have two types of FPV drone on our commercial permission- “Freestyle” and “Cinewhoop”. The Freestyle drone is similar to those used in racing but designed and tuned to fly smoother, it is great for fast dynamic shots like chasing vehicles or diving down mountains. The Cinewhoop is a new type of drone using ducted propellers which are completely enclosed so cannot contact anything it touches. This slow flying drone is perfect for smooth filming in confined spaces, small gaps and close proximity to people and valuable surfaces…. it’s even foam padded.

There is no gimbal, the drone is flown in a style that controls the frame and the onboard Gopro stabilises minor corrections. A program (Reelsteady Go) can act as a gimbal in post production if desired.

There’s another couple of larger FPV platforms in the works which will be able to carry larger cameras, please contact us if you’re looking for something like this for your project.

Here’s an example of us flying the “Cinewhoop” through woodland…
